Team Building Principles

The company is run by a team of associates headed by Peter Burton.
Peter has had a long career in sales and marketing, event management, team building, mental/physical challenge development and event hosting/facilitating.

He likes to work in a variety of roles, experiencing different aspects of working practice. Always on the go, always developing a new idea, Peter continues to explore new ways of team building, conveying understanding with an infectious enthusiasm.

With a healthy dislike of 'corporate miracle workers' and the latest HR fad, Peter's approaches to team building are simple, practical, realistic and down to earth and they're always memorable, enjoyable and accessible for the participants.

In his own words; "Teambreaks is not a company dealing in pure team building theory. We work with real life scenarios. Our people work in the real world. I still work in Sales and Marketing and still work physically on team building events, including everything from people organisation to erecting and dismantling kit in the rain.

We all have our heads below the clouds and our feet on the ground. In the past we have delivered team building programmes to senior management and to motorway white lining operatives - the message was identical, just delivered on different paper"

In addition to his senior role within Teambreaks, Peter has been called upon by some of the worlds biggest corporate names to facilitate.

 

Here are just a few brief event reports...

 

 

 

Cisco Systems Europe

Teambreaks was introduced to the Cisco EMEA Acquisition IT team in order to help design and deliver team building activities for a newly constructed global team. Their remit was to build a full day interactive workshop with a team of 40 people that would help the team to build trust and value each others differences, enabling closer and more effective working practices to take place.

 

The team building workshop was a great success; - feedback from the attendees was excellent both in terms of the individual reports and the team based activities. The mix between fun and hard work was just right, and the excellent results are still being felt and discussed some six months further on.

 

Merrill Lynch Mercury Asset Management
When Merrill Lynch and Mercury Asset Management merged, they needed to deliver a team building message to 300 middle and senior management at a conference in London. The message had to instil confidence and minimise fear regarding changes that would be inevitable.

There was also a need for people to be more receptive to other people's ideas and ways of working. Teambreaks team member Peter Burton gave an opening presentation followed by a team building exercise, debrief and wrap up.

Managing Director of Private Investment management Group Paul Sarosy commented; "I thank you for your exceptional job as facilitator for the team building exercise at our recent Global Conference. Your participation in the design and your enthusiastic presence at the conference helped make our event a huge success."

O2/The Executive Club
Teambreaks team member Peter Burton was brought in by O2 via conference organisers 'The Executive Club' to facilitate at a conference meeting in the Midlands in Spring 2002. The theme of the conference was "can do".

Teambreaks also designed and built a full afternoon's programme of activity which took place at Drayton Manor Theme Park. The programme blended the fun of big theme park rides with the challenge of completing tasks in a very short time frame under pressure. The delegates enjoyed both the physical and mental aspects of the day, and proved that a 'can do' attitude always wins through in the end.

Google UK Ltd – 450 people – conference activities

 

I wanted to thank you for organizing such a brilliant event last Wednesday – it truly kicked off what people are describing as the best conference they've ever been to!  

 

We will definitely be calling on you in the future to organize any activities we might be putting together, we had such a great response to the activity- it was the perfect way to start the conference.

 

If we hadn't had such an energetic and fun activity to kick off the conference, everything would have been very different I think!  People were encouraged to mix with other country teams and lose all their inhibitions from the word go… that could mean either chaos or tons of fun – luckily we got a brilliant mix of both!

This market leading corporate venue has benefited from Peter's valuable input. Working as part of a well integrated larger team, Peter has assisted in developing the venues purpose built on-site challenges and team activity areas, as well as regularly facilitating as MC 'on the day'.

The lakeside venue with its network of islands, coves and beaches lends itself to the most imaginative themes. Add to that the huge scope of different kinds of event held there and you've got a sizable challenge which Peter thoroughly enjoys getting stuck in to.
